KITCHEN & BATHROOM EXPERT WITNESS

Qualifications

I qualified with a degree in civil engineering at Portsmouth Polytechnic in 1971.

I established a fitted interiors retail business in 1980 which I own and run to this day.

My 46 years’ experience in the fitted interiors industry qualifies me to give expert evidence on design, product quality, installation and project management standards of fitted kitchens, bathrooms and home offices, and any other type of project involving fitted furniture.

I have worked for the Kitchen, Bedroom, and Bathroom Specialists Association (KBSA, formerly KSA) in a voluntary capacity, and have served 4 years as Scottish Regional Chairman and 1 year as National Chairman in this capacity.

I have worked in a voluntary capacity as a former member of the Institute of Fitted Interiors working group, which was created to set standards of installation within the industry, and I advised the steering group on the creation of National Vocational Qualification for Fitted Interiors Installation for young people entering the industry.

I am a Member of the Expert Witness Institute.

I was awarded Expert Witness Accreditation by Cardiff University Law School in March 2007 (England & Wales) and Aberdeen University School of Law in July 2021 (Scotland) following formal training, which included the following modules:

• Excellence in Report Writing

• Cross Examination and Courtroom Skills

• Civil Law and Procedure (England and Wales)

• Civil and Criminal Law and Procedure (Scotland)

I am conversant with the Civil Procedure Rules, (England and Wales) particularly CPR 35 which relates to the activities of Expert Witnesses.

Certificates

I was the first expert witness in the country to be accredited in both the English and Scottish judicial systems under the Bond Solon training programme.
